Blair Reid
Blair Reid, entering his 26th season as men’s head soccer coach at Grand View University, has a record of 293-188-27. At Grand View he has coached the Vikings to 11 Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships, eight MCC Tournament Championships, seven NAIA District 15 Championships, one NAIA Region VII Championship and five National Tournament appearances. He has been named NAIA Region Coach of the Year three times, MCC Coach of the Year six times, and District Coach of the Year seven times. He has coached 33 All-Americans and 13 Academic All-American Scholars during his tenure. Reid coached USL member the Des Moines Menace from 1994-1997. In 1995 the Menace qualified for the PDL’s prestigious National Tournament. At the time Reid was voted PDL National Coach of the Year. He was also head boys’ team coach for Dowling High School in West Des Moines 1985-1993, amassing a 125-25-12 record. A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Reid graduated from New York State University at Brockport in 1975. In 2001 he was inducted into the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame. Reid was instrumental establishing soccer as a state-sanctioned high school sport in Iowa.
Ventsi Stoimirov (Co-Camp Director of the Grand View University Soccer Camp)
Head coach Ventsi Stoimirov enters his 11th season as women's head coach for the Vikings. He was a member of the Bulgarian Junior National Team, and started six seasons for the Des Moines Menace, leading the team to two final four appearances. Stoimirov has extensive playing and coaching experience, earning his International FIFA/UEFA Coaching License. He also held a 50-4-2 record as the coach for the Iowa United Soccer Club, leading the team to five State Championships. In addition, Stoimirov has helped youth teams in Iowa win championships at prestigious tournaments all around the country including championships at the Snickers National Youth Challenge, WAGS, Surf Cup and Cornhusker Classic.
The founder of the Grand View Women's Soccer Team in 1998, Stoimirov has built a program that is known for its successes on and off the field. In 2003, Vikings rocketed to the top of the Midwest Collegiate Conference, earning their first MCC title. The 2003 and 2004 MCC Coach of the Year and 2003 Region Coach of the Year has coached 69 MCC All-Conference athletes, 3 MCC Players of the Year, 77 MCC Academic All-Conference athletes, 11 NAIA Academic All-Region athletes, one Region Player of the Year, 19 NAIA All-Region athletes, 12 NAIA Academic All-Americans, and 12 NAIA All-Americans.
Stoimirov graduated from Graceland College in 1995, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Iowa State University in 1998.
